Do you enjoy creating a strategy for communicating an organization’s story?  Compassion International has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Content Strategist to build a compelling corporate narrative that informs and inspires global internal (and occasional external) audiences.  This individual is a high-level thinker who oversees editorial planning for multiple internal and external channels (enterprise meetings, online platforms, PR, etc). He/she works in close partnership with functional communications leads to prioritize and balance corporate and functional content, ultimately weaving a story in which staff and supporters can see themselves and their contributions.


Please note:  This role must be in Colorado Springs, CO.

Essential Job Functions


  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
  • Acts as an advocate for children. Understands and advances Christ's mandate to protect children. Raises awareness of the needs of children and takes active steps to help protect against neglect, abuse, and exploitation of children. Promotes the dignity, respect, positive treatment, potential of children in all circumstances. Encourages the involvement of others in helping children in need. Reports and appropriately supports responses to incidents of harm of children if they occur.
  • Develops a corporate communications framework to govern and inform primarily internal communications activities, including the development and publication of content via various channels (corporate meetings, email, intranet, video, webinar, speaking engagement, etc.). May be called on to provide public speaking in pursuit of these objectives.
  • Anticipates, observes, and interprets internal and external organizational challenges and recommends communication initiatives and practices to improve programs, processes or outcomes.
  • Works with leadership, internal client groups, development professionals, and occasionally external stakeholders to implement policies and programs to increase awareness and knowledge of activities affecting the target audience.
  • Plans, prepares, and relays information concerning the organization to internal (and occasionally external) audiences to gain understanding and acceptance for organization initiatives, policies, and practices.
  • Works closely with executives, management, and staff to lead the development and execution of significant communication projects.
  • Develops technical writing as well as social media materials in alignment with large-scale communication initiatives. May assign such pieces to more junior specialists as needed.
  • Leverages expertise to support and accomplish activities such as managing budgets, monitoring activities, and providing leadership to lower level staff.
  • Coaches and provides expertise and may oversee the work of other professionals and support staff in the communications discipline.

  • Accountable for supporting, upholding, and engaging in Compassion's core "Cultural Behaviors" in all internal and external communication and relationships.


  • Bachelor's Degree Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related discipline


  • Ten years professional experience working in communications, marketing, public relations, or similar field.



  • Experience managing an editorial calendar
  • Strong writing and editing skills
