Do you enjoy taking complex information and making sense of it for others?  Is “explaining” your thing?  Compassion International has an opening for a Senior Corporate Communications Writer to help bring clarity to key corporate strategy concepts for diverse audiences.  This individual will bring to life the what, why, and how of what Compassion does – from educating on poverty and global trends, to how Compassion partners with the local church, to breaking down our core strategy.  Success in this role means workforce members can see their roles in the bigger picture, with a better understanding of their individual and collective contributions.  The person in this role will work individually and as part of the intra-team, cross-functional, and/or global workgroups.

Essential Job Functions


  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
  • Acts as an advocate for children. Understands and advances Christ's mandate to protect children. Raises awareness of the needs of children and takes active steps to help protect against neglect, abuse, and exploitation of children. Promotes the dignity, respect, positive treatment, potential of children in all circumstances. Encourages the involvement of others in helping children in need. Reports and appropriately supports responses to incidents of harm of children if they occur.
  • Develops creative, clear, written material, primarily in support of the organization's internal communications strategies, planning, developing and publishing content for various audiences and channels.
  • Develops, collaborates on, and/or maintains the organization’s style guide including editorial standards and policies. 
  • Observes and interprets internal and external organizational challenges and recommends communication initiatives and practices to improve programs, processes or outcomes.
  • Works with internal clients and development professionals to implement policies and programs to increase awareness and knowledge of activities affecting internal audiences.
  • Plans, prepares, and relays information concerning the organization to internal audiences that fosters understanding and acceptance for organization initiatives, policies, and practices.
  • Works closely with management and staff to develop and implement communication projects.
  • May coordinate and produce corporate content pieces in alignment with communication projects.
  • Produces and may coordinate social media content in alignment with communication projects and plans.
  • May support activities such as managing budgets, monitoring activities, and providing coaching and training to lower level staff.
  • May coach and provide expertise to other professionals and support staff in the communications discipline.

  • Accountable for supporting, upholding, and engaging in Compassion's core "Cultural Behaviors" in all internal and external communication and relationships.


  • Bachelor's Degree Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related discipline


  • Ten years professional experience working in communications, marketing, public relations, or similar field. 


  • Global Communications experience in or with the global South
  • International development experience
  • Strong writing and/or editing skills
