Overview

Do you love to create global communication strategies and develop creative solutions?  Compassion International has an opening for a Communications Specialist III.  This role will develop and implement global communication strategies, plans and tactics that inform, energize and align internal audiences around ministry priorities and initiatives. The Communications Specialist III will provide counsel and coaching to ministry leaders and internal clients on effective communications. He or she will collaborate with teammates and across functions and geographies to prioritize, sequence and deliver impactful communications through appropriate channels (i.e. intranet, leaders, special events, video and other tactics).

Essential Job Functions

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
  • Acts as an advocate for children. Understands and advances Christ's mandate to protect children. Raises awareness of the needs of children and takes active steps to help protect against neglect, abuse, and exploitation of children. Promotes the dignity, respect, positive treatment, potential of children in all circumstances. Encourages the involvement of others in helping children in need. Reports and appropriately supports responses to incidents of harm of children if they occur.
  • Develops creative, clear, written material, primarily in support of the organization's internal communications strategies, planning, developing and publishing communications media (newsletters, brochures, manuals, website content, etc.). Occasionally serves in a public speaking capacity.
  • Develops and maintains the organization's style guide, including editorial standards and policies.
  • Observes and interprets internal and external organizational challenges and recommends communication initiatives and practices to improve programs, processes or outcomes.
  • Works with internal clients and development professionals to implement policies and programs to increase awareness and knowledge of activities affecting internal audiences.
  • Plans, prepares, and relays information concerning the organization to internal audiences that fosters understanding and acceptance for organization initiatives, policies, and practices.
  • Works closely with management and staff to develop and implement communication projects.
  • May coordinate and produce technical writing pieces in alignment with communication projects.
  • Produces and may coordinate social media content in alignment with communication projects and plans.

Qualifications

Faith

  • Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.



Culture

  • Accountable for supporting, upholding, and engaging in Compassion's core "Cultural Behaviors" in all internal and external communication and relationships.


Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in mass communications, marketing, public relations, or related discipline


Required

  • Seven years experience working in mass communications, marketing, public relations, or similar field
  • Ability to travel up to 10% (domestic & international)

 

Preferred

  • Skilled at managing multiple projects and negotiating clear priorities
  • Proficiency in foreign languages
  • Global communications experience
