  • Overview

    This principal specialist is the digital experience subject matter expert within Compassion's Innovation team, guiding groups through complex global and local digital experience strategies and campaigns. Designs cutting-edge digital experiences and strategies in support of the exploration and execution of tests within the Innovation group. Conducts detailed and complex digital marketing projects, digital channel analytic analysis, and listening and engagement strategies across social media and other digital channels. Provides highly competent leadership in the conduct of major, complex digital marketing strategies. May coach and oversee the work of other specialists and related staff and provides expertise across levels and disciplines.

    Essential Job Functions


    • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
    • Acts as an advocate for children – raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one’s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
    • Strategizes, assigns, and writes dynamic content that is both timely and relevant for all of Compassion’s digital marketing channels. Develops and manages the digital content marketing editorial calendar to determine what content is published, to whom it is assigned, as well as when and where it is published. Supports and documents best practices for online acquisition and fundraising via digital marketing channels. Expert knowledge of search engine optimization of content should be applied.
    • Develops strategy for and manages the implementation of content/internet marketing strategies across all media, proactively supporting the exploration and execution of tests within Compassion's Innovation group.
    • Leads and manages strategies to promote content from, and increase traffic to online properties. Manages key reporting indicators and the development of applicable reports provided to leadership.
    • Analyzes digital marketing data and draws actionable insights to improve content effectiveness. Finds new opportunities for Compassion's digital content by keeping a pulse on the industry. 
    • Serves as a subject matter expert on digital listening and engagement strategies to listen to keywords and phrases across the internet to actively advance the Innovation team's strategies and objectives. Collaborates with key internal teams to support their campaigns and product goals through digital listening.
    • Serves as a trusted leader and subject matter expert on the team while partnering with leaders across both the Innovation group and across Compassion's global marketing teams, regarding the most effective strategies to support the exploration and execution of hypothesis that lead to breakthrough in the quality, quantity, or speed of Compassion's mission. 
    • Provides leadership and direction of web usability, style, and design system standards, ensuring user goal success and driving innovative digital experiences through relevant emerging technologies. 
    • Frequently coaches, provides expertise, and may oversee the work of other professionals and support staff in the department or division.

    • Bachelor's Degree 

    Work Experience

    • Fifteen years' experience working in this or similar position or field.

    Working Environment: Office – Standard Office Environment

    Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day

    Travel Requirements: May be required to travel up to 10% of normal schedule
