  • Overview

    This Senior Strategic Planning and Implementation Specialist manages enterprise-wide, integrated strategic planning process that aligns with overall strategic plan. Working with all levels of senior leadership, management and staff globally, across the organization, this senior professional expands the reach of Compassion's Strategy efforts by developing and administering processes and tools that support the design, planning, and review of strategy across the ministry. This incumbent manages large strategic initiatives and integrates the deliverables, providing consulting and advice for specific initiatives, enabling the ministry to succeed.

    Essential Job Functions


    • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
    • Acts as an advocate for children – raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one’s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
    • Partners with executives and their staff to develop and embed tools, processes and frameworks using the strategy methodology approach in the design, planning and review of global strategy.
    • Facilitates global ministry planning process.
    • Employs senior-level seasoned experience to guide activities in a way that meets department leadership needs and broader organizational considerations.
    • Manages enterprise-wide integrated planning that aligns to strategic decisions and connects to existing processes (e.g. budget).
    • Communicates, cascades and monitors plans to confirm alignment and viability with strategic plan.
    • Works across the global organization to ensure understanding and impact of strategic decisions.
    • Coaches and assists groups and offices in development of line strategies and plans in support of overall strategic plan.
    • Evaluates impact of Strategy on business and operating model, value chain and org design.
    • Collaborates with senior managers, facilitating strategic Point-Of-View discussions looking toward the future, enabling Compassion to achieve a strategic intent or vision, providing benefits to significant stakeholders, and/or transforming the organization.
    • Converts the discussions into well-defined programs with milestones and criteria for leadership engagement.
    • Leads the cultivation of mechanisms that drive transparency and healthy discussions, leading to successful strategy execution managed through an agreed decision making framework.
    • Develops and advances consistent and effective corporate metrics for the application of data in the corporate culture.
    • Leads the development of strategic data/metrics definition, analysis, dashboards, tools, and artifacts to provide executive management with up-to-date status of key initiatives.
    • Proactively partners with other groups’ analytical/business intelligence subject matter experts to integrate data across the ministry, producing near real-time data analytics and intelligence to assist strategic deliberations and decision making.

    • Bachelor's Degree Business, Quality Management, or related discipline

    Work Experience

    • Ten years Professional experience working in strategic partnership or similar field.

    Licenses and Certifications

    • Strategic Planning Professional Certification.

    Working Environment: Office – Standard Office Environment

    Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day

    Travel Requirements: May be required to travel up to 30% of normal schedule
