  • Overview

    The Program manager is the subject matter expert, navigating clients through complex projects. Oversees health, integration and delivery of the projects within the program to accomplish overall program objectives and value delivery. This professional secures required resources and uses formal methodologies, processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks and changes. He or she manages the ministries largest and most complex projects at an enterprise and/or global level, to ensure on-time completion according to specifications and within budgeted costs. At this career level, the incumbent provides highly competent leadership in the conduct of major, complex projects for multiple countries. Further, he or she frequently coaches and oversees the work of other specialists and related staff and provides expertise across levels and disciplines.

    Essential Job Functions

    Responsibilities

    • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
    • Acts as an advocate for children – raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one’s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
    • Serves as the subject matter expert, using discretion and judgement to lead complex program planning, resourcing, staffing, supply and subcontract management on extensive, multi-phase projects, generally in international venues.
    • Alongside the program sponsor, ensures the program objectives are clear, and the work identified will meet the program objectives.
    • Chairs and coordinates the program leadership team (if applicable).
    • Develops and manages program roadmap.
    • Responsible for the program budget.
    • Responsible for coordinating and communicating with project leads/managers, and for making project recommendations.
    • Assesses and ensures overall change management/communications effectiveness of the program.
    • Responsible for program-level reporting to the program sponsor and strategick program manager.
    • Recommends changes to budget, scope and schedule (at a program level).
    • Resolves and/or escalates issues, risks and decisions to the program leadership team and program sponsor.

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related discipline


    Work Experience

    • Fifteen years Professional experience working in project management or a similar field.

    Working Environment: Office – Standard Office Environment

    Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day

    Travel Requirements: May be required to travel up to 10% of normal schedule
