  • Overview

    This senior administrator leads the design, administration, and support of all data center network and compute infrastructure for Compassion as well as field offices and partner countries. The specialist further develops other infrastructure systems support such as network support, server support, resource management, infrastructure security and disaster recovery. At this career level, the incumbent leads or conducts major, complex system and network administration projects and initiatives for multiple countries. Further, she or he often coaches and oversees the work of other administrators and related staff.

    Essential Job Functions

    Responsibilities

    • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion�s ministry in prayer.
    • Acts as an advocate for children � raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one�s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
    • Designs, develops, and leads the implementation of various networks and server infrastructure across the organization. Leads the maintenance of existing networks, server and data center infrastructure through monitoring, testing, handling updates, installing and implementing security and management software.
    • Ensures timely file or system restoration by leading the implementation and testing of appropriate backup and disaster recovery procedures.
    • Benchmarks, analyzes, leads and reports on the implementation of performance improvements and growth of IT network infrastructure and IT network systems.
    • Ensures team is highly proactive in taking steps to assure availability of all network and infrastructure systems, including the development of test environments and procedures. Acquires and maintains current licenses, checking for security breaches, and maintaining proper installations and applications.
    • Manages vendors and life cycle maintenance activities on network hardware including firmware updates, patches and other upkeep activities as necessary. Independently manages application of security patches for network hardware and software in coordination with the IT vulnerability management program.
    • Benchmarks, analyzes, leads and reports on the implementation of performance improvements and growth of IT network infrastructure and IT network systems. Assures all network and physical infrastructure alerting and reporting, availability, scalability, security and performance is within proper specifications.
    • Ensures all necessary security controls and features for all network and infrastructure meets Compassion�s security and compliance requirements.
    • Coaches and provides expertise, and may oversee the work of other professionals and support staff in the network administration discipline.

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Disaster & Emergency Management or related discipline


    Work Experience

    • Ten years Professional experience working in network administration or similar field.
    • Experience with VMWare, Juniper, Aruba, Riverbed, Nimble, WSUS, Ubuntu, Windows 2016 preferred.


    Licenses and Certifications

    • Network administration certification from nationally or internationally recognized organization, or similar credential.

    Working Environment: Office � Standard Office Environment

    Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day

    Travel Requirements: May be required to travel up to 10% of normal schedule

    Other: This position may be required to serve in an �on-call� capacity in order to provide timely response to technology failures outside of standard business hours.
