  • Overview

    This career professional designs and implements new network, server and data storage systems as well as monitors and maintains existing network and server infrastructure in support of Compassion's business objectives. The specialist further collaborates on user and resource security architecture as well as server and network infrastructure system support. At this career level, the incumbent generally conducts systems administration projects independently or participates as a team member for major, complex, or international initiatives. He or she may coach and oversee the work of other administrators.

    Essential Job Functions

    Responsibilities

    • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion�s ministry in prayer.
    • Acts as an advocate for children � raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one�s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
    • Develops and implements various networks and compute infrastructure across the organization. Maintains existing networks, servers and storage through monitoring, testing for weakness, handling updates, installing and implementing security controls and features, and management software.
    • Configures, installs, maintains, upgrades and writes scripts to manage complex computer systems hardware and software including assuring proper testing, test environments, test procedures and best practices are implemented and followed.
    • Performs delivery, physical setup, installation, troubleshooting and repair of all hardware and software. Maintains telecom system. Trains users on software applications, systems, and other applicable systems.
    • Manages proactive steps to assure availability of the network and data center infrastructure. Responsible for maintaining current licenses, certificates, checking for security breaches, and maintaining proper installations and applications.
    • Performs life cycle maintenance activities on network hardware including firmware updates, patches and other upkeep activities as necessary. Independently manages application of security patches for network hardware and software in coordination with the IT vulnerability management program.
    • Analyzes and makes recommendations for performance improvements and growth of IT network infrastructure and IT network systems, integrating and increasing systems capacity in a timely manner to assure availability of resources with minimal end-user disruption.
    • Accepts, manages and resolves technical escalations demonstrating good communication and expert troubleshooting skills.
    • May coach and provide expertise to other professionals and support staff in the network administration discipline.

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Disaster & Emergency Management or related discipline


    Work Experience

    • Seven years Professional experience working in network administration or similar field.
    • Experience with VMWare, Juniper, Aruba, Riverbed, Nimble, WSUS, Ubuntu, Windows 2016 preferred.


    Licenses and Certifications

    • Network administration certification from nationally or internationally recognized organization, or similar credential.

    Working Environment: Office � Standard Office Environment

    Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day

    Travel Requirements: May be required to travel up to 10% of normal schedule

    Other: This position may be required to serve in an �on-call� capacity in order to provide timely response to technology failures outside of standard business hours.
