  • Overview

    The senior specialist leads the implementation at a tactical level as well as the delivery effort to assess, develop, implement, and communicate the Business Monitoring plan for Compassion's global ministry technology operations. The senior specialist leads the implementation required to carry out programs and appropriate communication and training related to policies, standards, guidelines, and practices . At this career level, the incumbent leads monitoring projects for multiple countries independently or participates as a lead team member for major, complex, or international initiatives. He or she coaches and supervises the work of other specialists.

    Essential Job Functions


    • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
    • Acts as an advocate for children – raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one’s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
    • At a tactical level, leads the implementation and delivery effort to deliver Business Monitoring services by identifying potential problem areas and single points of failure that may result in interruptions to critical data processing operations. Further, develops and implements Business Monitoring Plans and Procedures for all Compassion offices.
    • Leads the implementation and delivery efforts to develop and tests plans to ensure the continuity of critical business functions and minimize information loss in the event of a disaster (e.g., fire, flood, hurricane, earthquake).
    • Drives cross-functional partnerships with teams and key leaders to foster support for key large-scale Business Monitoring initiatives. Leads the development and dissemination of monthly/quarterly reviews of Business Monitoring programs and projects.
    • Defines and employs plans to ensure that monitoring operating procedures cover critical Business Resources located at all offices.
    • Leads the deployment and utilization of hot sites so that monitoring systems can be brought up and running quickly.
    • Serves as a key leader and representative of Global Support Services and Business Monitoring interests on corporate-level projects, task forces, and committees.
    • Coaches and provides expertise, and may oversee the work of other professionals and support staff in the monitoring discipline.

    • Bachelor's Degree Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Disaster & Emergency Management or related discipline

    Work Experience

    • Ten years Professional experience working in Information Technology Leadership or similar field.
    • Experience with ScienceLogic, DataDog, PagerDuty and ServiceNow preferred.

    Licenses and Certifications

    • Certification in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or Disaster Contingency Planning from a nationally or internationally recognized organization, or similar credential.

    Working Environment: Office – Standard Office Environment

    Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day

    Travel Requirements: May be required to travel up to 10% of normal schedule
