  • Overview

    This senior specialist contributes to the coordination, planning and implementation of Compassion's information security strategic plan to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction or disclosure. The incubent will build a body of threat knowledge relevant to Compassion's geographic, religious, political and technology profile with the goal of establishing a well informed threat profile. This body of knowledge and the associated risk will be used to inform operational procedures, policy requirements as well as cybersecurity decisionmaking. Reporting on the progress of the development of the initial body of knowledge as well as regular updates regarding changes to Compassion's threat profile will be provided to senior leadership on a regular basis. The specialist further contributes to analysis of complex and/or international potential technology and information security risks and their effects on the reputation, credibility, and effectiveness of the ministry. The incumbent works independently and may coach or oversee the work of other specialists.

    Essential Job Functions

    Responsibilities

    • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
    • Acts as an advocate for children – raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one’s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
    • Identifies and documents threat actors, threat vectors, likelihood and impact that are applicable to Compassion's multinational mission.
    • Works with other members of the IT Cybersecurity team to update policies, procedures and otherwise mitigate identified and validated threats.
    • Regularly develops reports and changes in Compassion's threat landscape, ensuring such changes are communicated to the appropriate parties.
    • Drafts and maintains Compassion's Cyber Threat Response Plan(s).
    • Assists the Cybersecurity Operations group with developing methods to target monitoring efforts towards threats.
    • Coaches and provides expertise, and may oversee the work of other professionals and support staff in the information security discipline.

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Disaster & Emergency Management or related discipline


    Work Experience

    • Ten years Professional experience working in information security or similar field.

    Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day

    Travel Requirements: May be required to travel up to 10% of normal schedule
