  • Overview

    The senior architect navigates clients through simple and complex architecture practices to drive the achievement of organizational objectives. Further, this solutions architect will be skilled in MicroService design using Containers.  The ability to work with full stack solutions is critical.  The ideal incumbent will lead detailed integration architecture projects to scale, particularly relating to continual improvement of practices throughout the organization. He/she demonstrates an understanding of related business process, priorities and business architecture. At this career level, the incumbent influences the conduct of major, complex initiatives, architectures and implementations for multiple countries. The incumbent has an understanding of Compassion's technology features and functions, demonstrates system thinking, and reassembles technology investments to maximize reuse and gain economies of scale. Further, he or she frequently coaches and oversees the work of other specialists and related staff.

    Essential Job Functions

    Responsibilities

    • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
    • Acts as an advocate for children – raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one’s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
    • Partners with work teams to plan, research, and design secure integrated systems that enable organizational objectives and address release train demand. Manages tradeoffs between business and technical implications focusing on fit for purpose and cost to value solutions. Maintains a deep technical understanding of all global systems, security and networks.
    • Designs, oversees and coordinates continual improvement to Compassion’s architectural runway (applications, infrastructure and security).  Oversees and supplies technology roadmaps. Assists in managing the architectural runway. Consults with demand management teams providing insights and direction on economies of scale, technology product upgrades, and opportunities for technology retirement and technology global roadmap progress.
    • Defines, and improves work patterns, standards, to speed the release train, reduce risk and gain economies of scale and promote technology re-use. Helps to develop Architecture Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), success measures and metrics.
    • Leads the implementation of conceptual, logical, and physical architectures in accordance with company standards and requirements.
    • Collaborates with team leaders to ensure compliance with technology standards that speed the release train and promote technology/investment reuse and security. Provides third-tier troubleshooting, redesign and solutions.
    • Creates and maintains key technical vendor relationships in coordination with Compassion procurement and Technical Product Management.  Collaborates in the vendor management, escalations and negotiations for strategic vendors. Assists in the evaluation of technology procurements to include evaluations based on ministry objectives, technical fit and cost benefit analysis.
    • Coaches and provides expertise, and may oversee the work of other professionals and support staff in the integration discipline.

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Disaster & Emergency Management or related discipline


    Work Experience

    • Ten years Professional experience working in integration architecture or similar field.
    • Experience in Microservice design using Containers.
    • Preferred: GoLang, Node, ASP.NET Core, Docker, HashiCorp and Azure/AWS skills are a plus.


    Licenses and Certifications

    • Integration certification from nationally or internationally recognized organization, or similar credential.

    Working Environment: Office – Standard Office Environment

    Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day

    Travel Requirements: May be required to travel up to 10% of normal schedule

    Other: This position may be required to serve in an “on-call” capacity in order to provide timely response to technology failures outside of standard business hours.
