This director leads the business support function of Compassion field offices in Asia region. Areas of management include operations, financial review, information processing, project management, business intelligence and change management. Is generally supporting the larger organization with multiple cross country or regional operations. The primary purpose of this position is to provide direction through subordinate managers and staff in the areas listed above. This responsibility includes hiring, discipline, and termination, as well as, coaching, performance management, assigning, checking, and approving work of subordinate staff memebers to achieve global strategies and objectives. The director collaborates with other senior leaders and contributes to the development of functional strategy, making decisions based on operational strategy and priorities.


*Candidates must be fluent in English, both written and verbal. Bilingual in a secondary language (native to the region) is preferred. Preferred candidates will also already live in Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh. 

Essential Job Functions


  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
  • Acts as an advocate for children – raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one’s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
  • Provides leadership, planning and consultation to subordinates, executives, and peer management in the successful alignment of assigned department resources to ensure achievement of operational priorities and initiatives, integrating priorities within organizational strategies to ensure that department's purpose is fulfilled.
  • Compiles or prepares and administers the annual budget and departmental expenses, ensuring accountability for on-time completion of deliverables based on department objectives, service level agreements, and other Compassion standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and board policies.
  • Selects, manages and develops assigned staff, establishing goals and objectives, coaching and managing performance, including discipline, motivation, and annual reviews; supports continuous learning and development that enhances individual performance and organizational capability.
  • Directs a team of subordinate managers and professionals to administer complex programs and projects, requiring professional expertise, with a broad scope and international impact.
  • Accountable for the administration of operational duties such as budgeting, systems support, safety, security, ministry development, communications, travel, purchasing, logistics, training, planning, or related support programs.
  • Manages professional level work required for the efficient support of the larger function to which he or she is assigned. Intentionally develops partnerships with other department leadership to support and advance major organizational initiatives, sometimes with international impact.
  • Leads and facilitates meetings to ensure productive use of time and leads high-level discussions, shaping strategy and objectives for the supported function. Further, collaborates with internal change leadership, utilizing Compassion's change management methodology, in communicating strategic changes deriving from or impacting supported function. Often drives the socialization and implementation across the function and monitors change saturation as needed.
  • Directs subordinate managers and professionals to ensure staff conducts accurate and meaningful analysis, review, and recommendations to have meaningful impact on the work performed.

  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Technology, or related discipline

Work Experience

  • 7 years experience in managing regional (multiple country) business operations and cross functional teams preferred.

Working Environment: Office – Standard Office Environment

Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day

Travel Requirements: May be required to travel up to 30% of normal schedule
